Vintage 2007

Séguret le 20 décembre 2007.

.

The 2006-2007 winter was relatively mild and low humidity.
The vine has started to wake up early, but the cool weather in March fortunately dampened his ardor.
In May, the climate has switched to a diet almost tropical heat and small rains almost daily.
From May 1 to July 8, we had 220mm of rainfall. Heat and humidity are not going well withe the vineyard. Diseases (mildew, botrytis, powdery mildew) have begun to declare and have need many treatments.
In July 8th, we have had the first real heat of summer. Throughout the summer we have been subject to dry weather periods with a lot of North wind (Mistral). Drought sets in and can become a problem throughout the Southeast of France. The rest of France, was under, alternatively rainy and cool weather throughout the whole 2007 summer<;

The green harvest began in June in the Domaine de l'Amauve. All the young vines and some oldest vines were concerned. The crop was important that year and the weather in May and June, because of the rains gave bigger berries. Up to 5 people were working in the vineyard for this crucial operation because regulating the crop, give early ripening,  more tannin content, more aroma and more color in the skin of the berry. Green harves ends July 14.

The true harvest began August 27th with the earlyest white grapes (grenache blanc and Viognier). The weather was very hot and we were obliged to pick only in the morning to bring cool grapes to the cellar.
Then since August 29th, the temperature became more normal, we could work the entire days, and the harvest continued with red grapes. Mistral (north wind fresh and dry) has blew for much of the harvest.
All the grapes were harvested in 9 days. We work very fast because we did not had one rain during the harvest period.
This year our team was : Martine, Manuela, Bruno, Florence, Guy, Mohamed, Christian, Hervé, Jean-Claude, Rudy, Thibaud,Monique and Nicolas, our son, who joined the team a few hours a day.

Subsequently, the winemaking went well for both whites and red wines.

Because of all these growing conditions I can tell you we have an excellent 2007 vintage at Domaine de l'Amauve.
The white wines are highly aromatic and very balanced. Reds wines have a dark color, great tannins and great fruit expression.

The sales of our first vintage (2006) are going well.
Our wines have had a great success with both buyers and the press.
Next April 2008, we will begin the sales of our cuvee "Reserve" 2006. It is our special selection wine who was aged in barrels for 12 months.
In the same time, our first wine from 2007 will start to be sold. This is our cuvee  "La Daurelle" in white, and "Laurances" in red.
