Vintage 2019
..

Winter 2018-2019 was well watered until early February and was cold with three weeks of Mistral (cold and dry north wind) in January.
Subsequently, the nights were cold, while the days were milder.
However, vegetation was about two weeks behind previous years.

From the beginning of March the temperature rose.
On March 21, the small vine plants begin to show the first leaves.
Rains are less frequent from mid-February.

Rain is welcome in mid-April.
Freshness remains a must for most of April.
The days become warmer from April 20.

The Mistral and freshness come back in May. They are followed by some rains.

The beginning of June is normally hot. The bloom takes place in good conditions.
It rains one last time at the beginning of summer.
The end of June is hot.

In July, the heat continues without being hot but also without any rain.
August is also normally hot, with no precipitation.

The harvest began on August 26 at Domaine de l'Amauve. The first grapes harvested will be used to make our rosé wine cuvées. Then, the white grapes will make our first white wine cuvée.
The grapes are superb, without any disease due to the very dry weather. The heat at the end of August makes us harvest only in the mornings so that we only harvest grapes at the right temperature.
From the beginning of September, the temperature drops and it is possible to harvest over full days.
The harvest ends on September 18.

The exceptional drought this summer reduced the size of the grape berries. The harvest will therefore be lower than expected. Fortunately, the quality of the grapes will result in an excellent 2019 vintage.
